Not sure which platform to use for your website? There are so many choices! There are a number of content management programs. The most widely used is WordPress. Squarespace is another content management program. Although you can create beautiful sites with both Squarespace and WordPress I can say without doubt my preference is WordPress. WordPress is very flexible and customizable. WordPress is widely used and therefore has tons of plug-ins to extend your website functionality. Whereas Squarespace is very restrictive, not too customizable, it is build for non-tech savvy person. Squarespace is basically a website builder. Squarespace website templates look good but are limited in terms of customization options. They look nice because they are professionally built with beautiful pictures and logos. If you do not have access to high resolution images and logos then your website will end up looking cheap! You can host WordPress with any hosting company which is not the case with Squarespace. Search engines love WordPress – I cannot say the same about Squarespace.
If you want a unique search engine friendly website that is highly customizable, looks professional and gives you lots of options for extensibility I would definitely choose WordPress.
